John Van Sloten

When you first learn about your child’s disability you don’t know what to do. It’s all so overwhelming… until the helpers come. For the past 13 years, Chrysalis has been there for our family. They’ve provided a meaningful community where our son can belong, create, play, and work. When Edward was born, we thought everything depended on us. We had no idea that the world was filled with so many thoughtful, committed, and compassionate souls—and that Chrysalis had hired so many of them.

Chrysalis is the first employer I've worked for since emigrating to Canada. I love working here. I enjoy talking with other staff members and People Accessing Service. Everybody is friendly and open. We come from a wide range of countries and backgrounds and it's fascinating getting to know each other. Respect and kindness are all at the heart of Chrysalis.

My time as a Director on the Foundation Board at Chrysalis has been incredible. Working with an organization that supports, empowers and is consistently transforming the quality of life for people who access service is something beautiful and special to be a part of.
